Which tools can be used to manage servers?

Hello.

I want to get knowledge about backend development, so I'd want to create a simple msg app.

Suppose that all the data was handled by a server, but I've no idea how to create or handle a server, barely even know what a server is.

I'd want to know about tools, which can be used or handle servers using Python, Java or C++.
I've already tried Django and had problems with it.
