Silly question, but why should I use PHP in application development

Everyone tells me to use php, but why do I need it, I can easily use the java script instead, can you explain to me why I need it and how to use it in conjunction with the java script?

Don't mind what people tell you much, if you're comfy with JS (or Node.js) then go with JS, same goes for PHP. Forcing oneself to do or try something out of personal preference brings little to no good anyways, just go with one you like, enjoy, and feel comfy with.
