But if your code is not so good then maximum you will get 12 upvotes

in general: The more follower and the better you are known.....
Contribute to discussions and if you come across interesting bugs - post them!
Also quality of code, creativity and how interesting your code is, counts.
There are some posts like:

where you can advertise your code.

Also contributing to challenges are a good idea.
IzeBurg is running some here and there
