Is learning Python a good way to get basic knowledge of programming, so that I can jump to Java easily?

Hi everyone! I'm of 16 want to make android apps. I have good knowledge of scripting, i.e. HTML and CSS. I got to know that Java is the language for Android Programming. I started to learn it but it went way too difficult to handle after few days, so I first decided to build a strong base in the basic codings first. Is Python a good start? Should I go in detail or I should skip it after the basics, and move to Java? Are there also some good opportunities in Python? Kindly help.

Try to learn java as first anyway! And take your time to practice step by step..

first you understand how loops, if else, switch etc work and then you can understand java properly. as you told you want to learn java/android then I will suggest you learn java properly. spend time..have patience. you can learn everything even if you start from java. read multiple sources, books, pdf, videos etc and then you decide what is working good for you..stick with that. I suggest watch video lectures first as they will explain things for you.

Starting with Python is, at most, as a good start to jump to Java than starting with Java.
