Processing IDE was my most beneficial approach to programming. It uses a simplified version of Java and has a lot of tools, libraries and wrappers to assit you in getting the job done with the minimum hassle. it also allows your programs to be exported as executables (for Linux, Windows, Mac) or apk for Android.
