@William, note that people are commenting here when they see code in the tutorials. many are just staying out and yes people can just "Google it" but I think it's fair to ask questions as you go and get answers here. it's part of what this discussion forum is for. it's also handy reference for them and to add can be easier on a mobile if they are using this app. others may find the comments and questions useful to.

block elements are container objects in html to contain 'blocks' of the page, examples would be div, a, p, img. this is opposed to inline elements, which would be 'inline' of the page, mostly inside block elements. without further code, two block elements cannot be on the same line displayed on the browser, whereas as many inline elements that can fit will go on the same line. you can place inline elements in block elements, but not the other way around
