There are different ways you can program a game...

⭕The easiest way, but very uncommon:
You can make games using html css js. It's pretty straightforward... Try searching on youtube for tutorials... There are plenty of tuts...

⭕With game engines, :

Even though this is cool there are limitations.. Most popular engines are Unity and Unreal. But there are drawbacks: They are partially paid..

Building from scratch...
You can make games without any engine. You can build everything from scratch.. You have the freedom: No payment, No purchase, No limits etc..
But can be hard as your building from scratch..

First of all I speak French but I get by quite a bit in English. I would like to know how to program video games. And many others

If you are a beginner at programming then you should select one language and start learning it and by this learn some more languages and when you get an experience then you can make video games

I program in Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
