Yes, Java is the main Programming Language to build a Android application.
If you want to learn app development, then java is where you should begin.

maybe an issue with your version of Android. I put it on my phone from the same download and it works fine. it was my first attempt at android, It is probably on my end lol. Just confirmed, runs like a champ on my phone.
*Update: I searched it. it looks like cause of parse error is either a partial download (unlikely since it installed) or wrong version of android.
It is my first try, and when I was setting up the package on android studio the version I chose said it would work on 98% of Android devices. Congrats, sounds like your a 2%er lol

I used api 15, which should be good for lollipop according to my reading. maybe an Uninstall and reinstall? Now I'm curious. when I am off work tomorrow I am going to put it on my girl and kids phones to see if it works.
virtual phone I used was a nexus 5. my phone it works on is a galaxy s7. my girl is Droid maxx. kid is galaxy s5. get a decent sample size
