What's the next smartphone?

Question

Around 2005 Apple launched the iPhone which led to an explosion in web and app development as well a ton of new frameworks and techniques to learn about. Since then people like me are very interested in figuring out what the next leap in hardware will be and what we should be learning to build now to be ready for that job explosion. I think it might be AR apps like for the Microsoft hololense. But I'd really like to hear other opinions.
