Can a data analyst become a data sciencrist and vice versa?

Data science and data analytics are different but do have some similarities, is it possible to transition from one job/title to another? If so how long does it take on average

If you’re unsure, you can always toss a coin. It will not be crucial for the rest of your life. There will always be a way to complete later if there is somthing you miss. So feel with your heart: if you want to work with (the info in) existing data, so choose data analytics; if you want to find out new methods to capture and analyze data, choose data sceintist.
