Is Php tough to learn for a beginner?

Is Php tough to learn for a beginner? The only language i have learnt well enough till now is c++. should i go for php(backend) or html(frontend)?

Not at all. It more easier than C++. Your experience with C++ will help out there. My suggestion is along with PHP, also try to learn MySql.
