Python and PowerShell are very useful languages to learn for a career in IT.
MS Visual Studio Code is a popular IDE with tons of plugins and support for many languages. You will probably want to run MS Windows if you're just starting out in IT but PowerShell also runs on Linux.

vscodium and vscode is really great for almost everything, but let's see:
python: wing, pycharm, spyder, pyscripter (win only), winpython (win only), thonny
c family: code::blocks, codelite ; c#: ms visual studio community, monodevelop
sql: for code writing or viewing/extracting/modifying an existing database? including relations in case of relational databases
html, css, js: vscodium, vscode, sublimetext, notepad++, geany
and before I forget: fleet is also a rising start (its plan to overcome the popular vscode)
