I'm very new to this

Hello everyone, I just found this app, stumbled across it because I have a passion for technology and wanting to develop video games or work with developers. I'm currently enrolled in College for a degree in IT science, the class I'm taking currently is network fundamentals. But my question is, since I struggle retaining information or gasping certain concepts, what's some things some of yall done to really understand and learn in this field of study?

I take copious notes in a text file, including my own glossary and links to official language web pages that have the definitive information about topics that Sololearn might explain less than fully.
