Advice

My son is nine and learning game development in Scratch. He already seems to grasp how programming logic works. After another four months of Scratch, should I start teaching him HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, or Python? Which programming language would suit him best?

Oma Falk thanks for your advice. Wow, you’re teaching it! I wish we lived near you 😄. You know, I’ve also been thinking that when I go back to Yangon, Myanmar, there are courses like that for him to join. But it seems impossible to go back to Myanmar, so I’ll need to learn it together with him when we settle down somewhere.

HTML, CSS and JS would likely be a more suitable next step than Python However, if he is more interested in the logic and problem solving aspects of programming. Python could be a good option Python can also be used to develop games using libraries like Pygame and Ursina Engine For more realistic 3D game development, Unity (C#) or Unreal Engine (C++) would be better options

Python is an easy language and a kind of vanilla. Maybe you buy a raspi and let him hack Minecraft on it. I teached it for kids age 10+ .
