Silverlight a dead language?

is Silverlight a dead language? now that all browsers a failing to support it. but I wonder why? I quite enjoyed the framework what's your thoughts?

From an user's point of view, I hated websites that needed to install this plugin. I think Microsoft wanted to compete with Flash, but it didn't work out. Flash had the popularity and now HTML5 is taking this place
