What is this plagiarism mentality?

I've been reading a lot about people on here stealing code or programming from others. Is this not an open forum for learning? If you don't want it copied, don't post it. Everything I post I encourage others to copy it in whole or part. What am I missing? Learning here should be free and encouraged. It's not a place to show off programming you don't want copied.

Copying a code from a peer and claiming it as your own != learning. Period. If you are encouraging people to copy your code entirely without any effort of altering or understanding the contents, you're doing it wrong, buddy.

:) @jamie. if that is your opinion awesome! I understand why others feel the way they do though. I think at the end of the day (for me anyway) it comes down to wanting others to succeed at learning. Just copying others work without trying to understand will never help one learn. But I guess that is where my understanding of your opinion comes into play. (pls correct me if I am incorrect) We can not and should not worry too much about the actions of others unless it affects us directly. FYI: The big hooharhar that happened the other day was caused by copied code being awarded code of the day. That is, in my opinion, not cool.

Because there's a difference between copying because you want to learn and copying to act like it's yours. There isn't really a problem with anyone copying a code, as long as they give the original coder the credits, but these copyists just copy and put their name under it.

when they save my code to their code list it's ok, but when they write in that code something like "code made by me" it's plagiarism. look at my code "3d sphere", there is a blacklist with examples: https://code.sololearn.com/WP9mCj3EjUi5/?ref=app

So what if they do? I don't care if someone takes my code and claims it as their own. I would feel like I helped someone. We don't own the internet. This forum is for learning, not egos.
