In a documentary about it he declared to hacked registry of his University just to create a website for "ironic purposes", i don't know if he was a genius, but surely Facebook was a great origin... ah, nope, Facebook was a stealed project.

I think his success was not because of his programming knowlage, it was more about timing , luck , and maybe the "like" button made all the difference.

At that time there were other social platforms , but for some how they didnt growup as facebook
