How is xamarin and microsoft relation?

Question

I want to learn xamarin instead of java(android) or swift.
do you think microsoft will fully support it and there will be many updates to make it better?
i want to start to learn it and i wana know if it worth or not. maybe microsoft will just leave xamarin's support soon?
can you help me?

Oh I forgot to add something, Xamarin can use visual studio .net framework , from there you can build your mobile application and deploy it on your mobile device and manage your back end data from Microsoft Azures Platform. Their all linked together,

I work in Microsoft and you don't need to worry about support for xamarin because we love it. Just ask DocumentDB lol.
