I/m think that you are at the beginning of your dev career. Effect is good, but in future when you'll be code something similiar you should be program more flexible. For example you don't need use many id attributes in your html to select elements or use many if else statements to animate background of properly tags. :) Of course you have to gain more experience but i think your project is good for start ;)
