I think everybody has a different strategy when it comes to coding, some scribbles on paper before typing, some just go ahead coding, some typed the code as they analyze it, some codes first and analyze later.

Different strategies are also used by one coder for each distinct problem to solve. Imo it all depends on each person's preference, and habits.

As for me I tend to try to solve the simplest part of a problem then continue with parts that are more difficult, this prevents me from getting stuck on a difficulty.

first of all I think about logic and abstraction. and so in common cases, I advice to plan task, to consider a problem in different sides and aspects. maybe take some ready ideas. and then choose more suitable tool (language, environment, paradigm)
