Two thing are necessary for owning a website.
1. Domain: a unique address which leads to your site. like www.google.com
2.Host:It is where all of your site files and codes are stored online so anyone can reach the site.
You can imagine it as an online storage which can be accessed using your domain address.
PS:Non of these is actually required for learning and creating a website,but only when you want to make available online.

Every website must be hosted in somewhere. The company or computer that host the website, also host the domain, that is the name that is used to access the website.

A domain host is a special type of server that stores domain names. When a user submits a url to be rendered, the browser will communicate with difference domain name servers (DNS) until the domain has been located on whatever DNS it is stored on.
