Is Java like the young hip version of c#

I'm learning c# via Microsoft webpage but it feels like I'm learning Java or JS all over again? am I tripping or is this right?

not really. Java is the reason JavaScript has it's name. C# came much later.

Perhaps C# has all the features of Java and some more. This is because if the steering committee of each has different goals and means to reach them.
