What is tel why is it used in html

Type an input with HTML has for me two main use :
- Make sure people can't fill input with unexpected types of datas.
- Improve navigation experience with native web browser's functionnalities. What I mean is if for example I'm using a smartphone and I try to input a phone number, the webrowser will detect "tel" and display a phone keyboard, removing a,b,c,d,e, etc... make it ergonomic.

it is similar to number input type.. and you can not enter alphabets or characters in the number input field but in tel input field you can enter some characters and numbers
