In terms of productivity, it is possible to create programs as fast in C++ as in JS. Performance is another issue, though it is not denied that JS makes it easier on the programmer, while C++ easier for the computer. C++ is used to built operating systems, cross-platform games with a wide variety of game engines, and other desktop as well as mobile applications. JavaScript is commonly used for web development along with HTML and CSS, and can also be used for cross-platform mobile app development through Cordova.

They have different purposes. JavaScript is more productive, but they are not rival languages.
