What is more recommended between C# and Java?

Question

As 2 similar languages I'm interested to know what is a better choice, it can be based on a few main points,
first, I am very familiar with C# and it's very comfortable with Visual Studio, is Java the same comfortable with VS as C#?
And is there some specific things about why Java should be more useful?
One more, which one of those languages have a better chance to stay updated and not run out of date?

Syntax of java is nearly same to C# and Java is also object oriented language. Java is an excellent professional development language used by many enterprises. Real advantage of Java is that it can run on any machine which supports JVM.
