Can I start with Python without any basic knowledge?

I have no programming experience whatsoever. I don't even know the very basics of C language (topics like strings, class, etc.) Is it still okay to straightaway start Python?

Python is a good first programming language. In particular, its synthax is very simple, and very expressive at the same time (ie you can do a lot by typing little).
