Please use the search bar in the Q&A Forum, this question has been asked many times. I would suggest HTML if you want to learn web designing, or Python or Ruby otherwise.

I started with python, but most people recommend Java. I agree with this because a lot of the other languages share what Java uses.

like I previously said in mine I started with python. the only concern I have with a new code is they get adjusted to that easiness of python, besides those blasted whitespaces, that on other languages that are less forgiving it becomes a little bit harder. regardless once you learn one language it is easier to learn the rest.
