What does it take for a code to get >1K likes? - 1/3

Just a query. I wish to know the features of such codes, how they are as awesome as the likes show, and how I can make similar ones...

I have been wondering this same question, because the codes that end up on trending are really simple pattern printers or "Wow I made it to Gold!! 💕❤🖒👌", which is extremely frustrating for those who actually put effort into their code. In fact, I saw a code on trending yesterday with 10 likes, and it was a C++ cout << "Hello World!" << endl; I just don't understand the mentality on this app at all

EDIT: Not to say that beginners aren't putting effort into a hello world program or a pattern printer, but it just seems strange to me that the codes that are being recognized by other coders are the simple programs, at least for non-web codes.

IIRC, our friend Nicolay in the other day, mentioned to flowery/colorful codes. He said, web-based codes due to their beautiful and attractive appearances, in a short period of time grab the community's attention dramatically. He brought us a nice example of NASA's space programs [those that involve programming] and their major impact in our science and daily life without any footprint.
So being realistic, all of your concerns about those numbers and statistics at the end of the day have no impact on your future and community. Since you are a diligent student and programmer you most certainly get your good in real world and by real people.

I have got one code that has reached 1K likes, but it is, hmm, i would say, that it is really stupid code. It's made in Python and it just prints what day is today:D. Then I have better codes with less likes.

But being a web code does matter, right? You do get more likes on those, as they are mostly innovative and graphical.
Non-Web Codes, on the other hand, are just character output based, and few prefer calculations, algorithms, over graphics...

You see, this thread was created so that everyone can know the secret (not so secret now) recipe, that makes codes liked by all. But this thread has proved that more followers == more likes.

And there are two ways to gain followers:

Genuine Way - Post in threads, provide helpful content, participate in discussions, solve challenges, help others by providing good quality answers...

Quick n' Dirty Way - Post threads asking for followers, Participate in chat threads a lot, join the Discord Server of Sololearn, wish people everyday, etc...

I agree, to an extent with that. Non web codes are handicapped in SL's compiler, so unless you have your own compiler for those languages, the really cool codes aren't even seen. The rest have to be simple, because of the handicap.

I think the reason why a lot of people here like simple codes (web included) are because first of all, it is easy to understand, and helps them learn. We are here for education first, yeah? XP and code exposure are neck&neck for second. Helping or trolling tie for third.

Anyway, point is, Idk why crap codes get 1k, 2k, 3k+ likes while simply amazing codes get between 0 and 500... lol. But I wish I had the code exposure like that.

But then how is a Code of the Day chosen? It's definitely not random, so I would be willing to bet that they are chosen based on the likes a code already has, and then they are judged further, based on other characteristics. Someone please correct me if I am wrong; I would love to know how CotD is chosen

I'll give u a likestorm later @Kinshuk. My most liked code only has <80 likes. My two cents is exposure. Make sure your code is being seen.
