Hi everyone my question is for image tag ,why to use alt=/> at end ,is it mandatory use or can be igorned

The alt attribute is a short for alternative text that should be displayed where the image should be in case the image source is invalid (that can't be loaded) or if the image content is disabled on the browser. It is also used for accessibility feature for visually impaired. It is not mandatory attribute by the way. Hth, cmiiw
