I learned java basics plus swing in about 2 months. This year (june&july). So One year is really enough. I am still learning though. As others have said, you cant be 100%. Build slowly by slowly on what u know. NB: Take every bug as a new lesson.

Yes brother...you just need one thing and that is enthusiasm to learn and interest in JAVA...one thing I want to tell you is NO ONE CAN CLAIM that I know JAVA 100%...There are thousands of packages available in the market that you can use in your program.You can learn fundamentals of JAVA within 1-2 month then practice comes into the picture..More you code, more errors you get and when you start to solve those errors you will become JAVA developer...Best Of Luck for the Journey..

the best way to actually learn "how" it works is to work on a project.. do some dummy app or site. you can find any resources in the internet they are all good. there is also "stackoverflow.com" for questions about such.

yes it is possible. I am the living proof of that. during study I had a java course, but couldnot even understand the first line of code: import java.awt.
somehow I passed the java exam, and told myself, no programming for me, EVER.
