I prefer to use Linux Mint Mate. It's simple and beautiful.

Same of @Igor, Linux Mint is definitely the distro you should choose if you want a user-friendly OS, lighter than Ubuntu.

Zorin OS (based on Lubuntu) is also a good one. :)

Beginner: Mint, Centos And Ubuntu
Intermediate: Debian, OpenSUSE, Fedora
Expert: Parrot Security OS, Kali, Red hat, Backbox, Live hacking OS, Deft, NodeZero...

Whichever one you enjoy the most.

Most of the linux needs I have these days are focused around Centos 7, so that's my current "better linux" because it's relevant to what I'm working on. Back in the day I was more focused around Red Hat.

I agree with @Maz Linux Mint light just downloaded it recently nice one and doesn't occupy much space

Always On The Cutting Edge Of the Linux environment, with the latest updates coming to Fedora First - this would be the same group where you would find Debian

Linux Mint - user friendly :

Ubuntu just like Linux Mint seek to bring the user experience from more popular operating systems and bring a more powerful desktop experience to the average user
