In my case, I'm retired so this is my hobby. I do it for the love of learning.

My main reasoning for it is because it interests me and is fun. It's so much fun to me that I never even considered it for monetary gain until MANY years after learning it. When you can do something and not care about earning even a dime to do what you do, then you know you've found what you love and that's what you should be doing.
