Python or big data for data science/machine learning??

which is best to study to go for machine learning/data science, either big data or python ??

are you comparing programming language with big data ?
if you want to start machine learning, you have to learn numpy , pandas , matplotlib , sklearn , tensorflow(for deep learning) and other packages like these

I don't know about that one of my friend said I should learn python for ML.. bcoz python has more jars to do so
