How long does it take to become web dev?

Hi guys, I am a bit lost of what I should do as I'd like to do so many things but I don't have infinite time and I'd like to start off my new career. Are there any people here going same direction? Those which are already got there, how long did you take you guys to get from 0 to web dev? any tips for starters? what was your learning path and what did it took? (specific languages? portfolios, websites? linkedin? what landed you a job?)

I'd say about three years to be good enough for professional junior standard. That's how long it's taken me anyway. Wanna spend more time to be the best tho.

I started my career change with learning java. I have learned html/ css just to make webpage with my portfolio and I really like what I have been doing so far (much more than java) moreover I am ok at graphic design and I have lots of unique website design ideas. I thought to change my path towards web dev. it also seems that there is a lot of web dev jobs going around in my country which makes it a big plus.

Hello, you are not alone here :)
I think it depends on time you devote into it. I think even one year is enough if you do it consistently. You can complete some junior tasks and build up your expertise. I am currently studying at a university but I feel like university is taking my time. I would rather learn by myself and keep improving. Make becoming web developer your main goal, and the rest will work out for you. Start learning bit by bit, every day, do not focus on the end point that much, just focus on the process and let it happen.

@Shatlyk Penayev thanks a lot for your reply. I have just started learning html/css just fired my portfolio website and, I have my first web design request. it isn't paid one but it's good for portfolio. I know quite a bit of people who are in uni but feel like they are wasting time. I actually try to study or do web dev as much as I can. currently doing +6h a day writing, learning bootstrap, learning JavaScript or just looking for job

Good job Evie! I am also a starter, in fact I fell like I am late but I am sure I can make it. Congratulations on your web portfolio. If you don't mind, I would love to take a look at it. As a starter myself, it will surely motivate me. :)

My website: irys-hub.com it has simple design for now but I did it up to my current abilities (given that I have just learned html/css)
