Normally depending on what this white hat hacker is supposedly hacking he would need a knowledge on the programming language that's actually in the area of what he's trying to hack. put it this way you are a white hat hacker that hacked an OS(operating system) for security purposes(obviously) and the OS you were hacking is coded in C so imagine you looking through the code maybe even features of the OS and you're like 'hey there's a vulnerability in this code that does this or that' you would have never found the bug if you didn't understand C so in your statement you said 'the language white hat hackers use' i find that statement none existed because the fact that white hat hackers can learn a language of their choice there is no language that you HAVE to learn in order to do white hat hacking but here's what i noticed most white hat hackers know how to code in.
