Here, people often manually "iframe" a YouTube video, but they also provide an API:

I think you should be more specific. Here you could only do something similar using HTML, in which case you should use the <video> </video> tag:

Other than the strategies that have been mentioned already, another way would be via embeds. Many streaming/video-based websites (as well as social-media) provide features that allow you to copy/paste embedded versions of media to be shared elsewhere.
