When it comes to pen testing (or ethical hacking), I wouldn't say that it would be a field that you should focus on as your main objective when it comes to learning computers and how they work, but rather as just something that comes naturally throughout your studies. Hacking as a whole can be very difficult to get the hang of, especially for beginners, so starting out with learning it wouldn't exactly be the best idea. However, if you do want to get into learning how the base of computer systems work, I would suggest looking into different operating systems and their shells, and try to learn as much as you can through that. One popular OS for developers is Linux, which includes a great terminal for developing scripts and such.

pentesting is a very large consept. i recommend learning about different stuff that pentesters do and start studying after
