Bootstrap html4 or html5

Bootstrap html4 or html5

Is Bootstrap supposed to be used in html4 or html5? The main tutorial on here states that bootstrap is designed to be used in html5, but the bootstrap tutorials that follow it use the <div> element. Isn't <div> only for html? I'm confused.

html4 and html5 are both html. just 5 is the latest version with new stuff added. the div tag is very much a part of html5.
