Phantom Downvoter

Question

Whoever is stalking my account and continually downvoting all my comments and code has been reported.

I had to bury my friend last Thursday who was tragically killed in an accident, and who I saw bleed to death, so trust me this is nothing to me.

However, a poor sportsperson with a bad attitude needs reporting.

I had a similar problem and before I reported it the moderators took action. Personally it was something I used to ignore, but I really appreciated the intervention of the mods. And as you say, there are really great people in the community.

On the other hand, I'm sorry to hear about your friend, Xan . I hope you are well.

sorry about your lost friend,very tragic,i still dont get the point to downvoting,i downvote,but i only downvote bad content,some people just feel excited over the dislike button,well the internet is full of people

I'm mutual on this. In one hand, if someone is doing it in mass just to be spiteful toward a user, then that's not cool. If they genuinely dislike the comment/code, then they have every right to dislike it - not everything has to be rainbows & puppy dogs in life and voting isn't limited to just votes you want to have.

Now with that being said, I agree that if someone down votes you, if the reasoning isn't obvious, then they should reply and let you know exactly how they feel, why they voted as such and provide their opinion so you have the option of learning from their feedback if it's plausible feedback. As you said, criticism without constructive feedback is useless.

There are people that do the exact same thing to me all of the time, but I've never viewed it in a negative way. Maybe I'm narcissistic, but I figure if they silently hate me it's because they silently envy me and having someone silently envy me feels pretty good. Perception is an amazing tool. ;) A situation that could defeat me is a situation that raises me higher instead.

By the way, my condolences to you in your loss. That's a really tough break, especially considering the exposure you had to endure with it. You're all in my prayers and I hope one day you're able to embrace the good memories you were able to have with your friend without tainting the memories with sorrow.

David Ashton Apologies for the other day everyone. I've been struggling a lot. I've been coding pretty much non-stop to take my mind off it. I haven't been able to sleep much, so coded instead. Apparently, only time can slowly heal something like that. It was the most brutal thing I've ever experienced. Love to all. Xan.

Brother, don't ever apologize to us for such things. Most of us here are humans also, and most can only imagine such a horrible event taking place in their life. I'm not going to go into that part of my past here, but my heart does go out to you on this and I really do hope that the healing process is as smooth as it can be for you. If I could rip that image from your head/heart and bare its burden for you, I would do so without a second thought.

Sorry man, sometimes life will just shit in your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Just remember that gold covered in shit is still gold worth having. :)
