What happens to the older programmers? How do I not get fired when I turn older? Do I really have to learn new things every year

I am a high school student who is interested in software engineering. Tips and tricks are appreciated :)

If you do become a good programmer when you're older, I wouldn't worry too much about getting fired as you would probably have a lot of experience in that field. When it comes to learning new things, that is quite important for programming as the field is always changing. We are always getting new languages, new syntaxes, new styles of programming, etc. so keeping up with the current trend is quite important to stay relevant and have your programs run as best as they can. With that, however, I wouldn't worry too much about it as learning new things will always come naturally to you, even when you're older. Even if you want to switch from one language to another, learning how to use it should be quite easy as most languages use similar functions, loops, and syntaxes so all you would really need to do is just change some small things that you would normally do to accommodate for the new language. In short, even when you become an older programmer, you would do fine with keeping your job and still keeping up with the programming trends. Hope this helped! d:
