Python goes weird...

Question

It was a normal day. I was playing around on my Mac and just for fun, I changed a .png file to a .py file. Then I changed it back again.
After I played around with extensions, I opened IDLE. It was covered with weird shapes and stars! (i.e. all the letters were swapped with weird shapes and stars). I reinstalled python but it was still the same! Please can somebody tell me what to do!
