Why is Kotlin getting so much love?

Question

Not really a recent thought, but i have seen in the last months that people familiar with java simply ditch it for Kotlin, calling it the resolve of all its predecesor problems.

it is true? do people feel like Kotlin can really solve what some call problems of the most popular language of JVM? and how does Kotlin do that?

By the way, Google just launched a new programming tool, called Flutter. It allows developers to develop native Android and IOS mobile apps fast and easy.

that makes some sense, but i feel like the only good thing that comes from big companies are programming languages/frameworks/technologies that require lots of documentation and support to be helpful
