. Getting rid of Windows!

Question

I remember when Mac was a leading industry, not that I had Mac actually I had no Operating Sytem in my first Computer. I have used various 16 bit platforms, live linux distros, Unix and too much of Windows. Anyway I have used many alternate OS's, and have always struggled with loving any of them. What can you tell me about other options?

Currently running live tahrPup on Linux 3.14.56 have yet to successfully install any wireless network drivers, any suggestions? I'm constantly without internet.

Ubuntu is like a foolproof way to get linux working. Install it from a live cd or usb. I use, and prefer arch linux. But it is not for the ones who wants things working out of the box. It takes a long time to install the first time and internet configurations can be a headache. If you just want to get rid of Windows and a working internet at the same time, install Ubuntu.

I'm rocking Kubuntu with i3 as my window manager and I love it.

If you're into the no-internet lifestyle check out TempleOS, a bible-themed operating system written by a schizophrenic over the course of 10+ years.

I'm under the impression that tahrPup is (Ubuntu based) rather than (slackware).
At this time I just want a connection to my offline network for remote access and web development. Connecting to the WWW isn't a priority.

See I want to but to do so I would have to download Kubuntu on my phone. lol Isn't it like 1.6gb? Seriously you would love my non-compatible compatibiles. TempleOS huh? Sounds badass honestly. Just with what you stated, feels like it may become my safe place.

Sorry for missinterpreting. I thought you wanted a distro with a working internet. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. I never tried minimalistic distros. Arch is however extremely minimalistic , which is one of the reasons I use it. Nothing comes prepackaged. You have to explicitly choose each package you want to install, including the xserver and window manager, which makes it not for the faint of heart. But it definitely makes it an option for creating a custom minimalistic OS on your machine. It is however hard to install arch without access to the arch install tutorial online. It is complicated, but well worth your time if you want to know and control your OS.
