What are some good side projects that can apply to any(or many) programming language(s).

I am trying to think of a side project to work on to put on a resume. I am looking for something that uses object-oriented programming.

how about an app that generates project ideas? anytime you have a problem, chances are others are also having that same problem. thats always a great time to brainstorm a solution and build something to show off or even sell if it becomes looked at enough.
