For beginners it's the best way with video tutorials and same time coding directly, through that you'll se how everything goes and same time working manners.

Books - in combination with looking up online what's missing or unclear (including sololearn).
Actually coding and reviewing my codes and generally staying in motion.

A job as programmer -> experience, online references and colleagues to guide you.

I so love video tutorials. It's easier to learn when you can write codes while following the instructions on screen. You can have your own simulation so you can see what's happening. Reading the official documentation is what I do to learn a particular section in depth. To find solutions whenever I encounter a problem, I ask on community forums because that's where you see scenarios that appear in reality.

Solo learn, for the basics and quick broad picture, followed up by something off EdX or Udemy or Udacity for more in depth.
Look up "Derek Banas" on youtube. He does entire channels dedicated to a certain topic or language, but he also does all in one video basics as well, which is amazing for exam prep!
One golden rule I think at the intermediate - advanced topics for me is: always read documentation! I made the mistake of trying to get Media Player on android to work without knowing about it's life cycle. I found out in the developer documentation! I'll never get those hours back, but I'll never make that same mistake again!
Cheers
