The OS doesn't matter since you can code anywhere (even using your phone). Just use an OS that you're comfortable with, download the necessary IDEs, compilers, etc. and you are good to go

Interesting Default, I never knew that. I guess you learn new things everyday. What particular linux distros are not good for development?

That's true, although I did use kali as my main OS for awhile (I know it's not supposed to used like this but at the time my hands were tied) and installed IDEs in it.

Lambda_Driver In terms of OS' used for development, not any OS will work as well as others. For example, some Linux Distribution Softwares strictly say not to use them as a development environment, while others do. Any stable developer-friendly Linux environment with an IDE should work fine, unless you plan to develop for another platform.

Lambda_Driver certain Penetration Testing-oriented Distro Softwares aren't tailored to development. I can explicitly remember Kali Linux being mentioned as a OS not to use for development, and other OS' possibly including BlackArch as well. One OS that is encouraged for use of development alongside Penetration Testing is Parrot Security OS.
