Xamarin.Android type coding for android ON android?

Question

I am currently working with Xamarin.Android and after a bit it dawned on me that it may be possible to use something like Xamarins c# android library or java (assuming u know it) to compile and build onto your android device FROM ON the device itself? any ideas or relative matters?

I'm new to this and I do not know very much about what the android is actually allowed to do in terms of device permission and its ability to render the things that may be necessary to have a real VS-esque kind of IDE for development.

but from the way the Layouts are constructed it looks like if you set up a linearlayout the right way you may be able to implement enough inflatable frames to provide a real easy-to-access UI toolbox or maybe it looks like something more simplified like the way Xamarin workbook compiles stuff in an active-build
