As an interviewer what type of questions should i ask to a data scientist?

Please add questions which are related to data. For example: Data collecting, data cleaning, data preprocessing etc.
Like I do face a problem.
I have data in multiple excel files. And I have to merge it in one excel file in there respected columns. I face many difficulties and finally I have to choose manual method.
