What's the best way to go about web development?

So far I've heard suggestions to start with JavaScript,php or CSS but no one has given me the pros and cons or which one is just the best to start with. Any help will be appreciated guys

CSS s for front end (how the page looks)

JavaScript is for backend (how the page functions)

html is to let those to work together
