Maybe I'm too paranoid and sceptical 😂 but the reason is that I know a few folks who work at such roles and they can't get much free time at all, maybe it's due to a lack of a business culture in Bosnia, since IT industry is pretty young here, that maybe it.

It is basically a capitalist ploy to squeeze more work/money out of IT people since they get turned on by buzz words, but it does have some advantages, like team members working more closely instead of being isolated.

Mirza Sisic That makes a lot of sense now.
I can see how poor management and lack of a healthy work culture could affect the role and expectations of devops.
Speaking from the opposite experience, I'm grateful for the amazing devops team we have and the value they bring across our entire Product Engineering department.
I'm sure the business culture will eventually improve for you. It can take time. But it will get there. 😉👌
Also... I'm quite impressed by the fluent dialect of your written English. I would have bet you were from the USA.

Wow... 😂🤣...
That's an interesting take on devops.
I can't say I agree with any part of that rather colorful assessment. But, I did find it interesting and wanted to see if you would mind sharing some insight behind your cynicism on devops. 😉👌

development operations or the processes you do (or which is recommended) while building any software. eg. debugging, releasing, testing, etc.

DevOps is a new term emerging from the collision of two major related trends. The first was also called “agile infrastructure” or “agile operations”; it sprang from applying Agile and Lean approaches to operations work. The second is a much expanded understanding of the value of collaboration between development and operations staff throughout all stages of the development lifecycle when creating and operating a service, and how important operations has become in our increasingly service-oriented world.

Hello Everyone! nice discussion 👍
I got into this thread late. But after reading all the responses here, I wonder why I'm still unable to conclude what DevOps is all about.
Is it a part of the technical team? management team? or something else? who are these people?
What are their main job description?
What and how they (or what they do) contribute or benefit the team (or project) as a whole?
Someone please draw a conclusion? briefly?

DevOps (development and operations) is anenterprise software development phrase used to mean a type of agile relationship between development and IT operations. The goal of DevOps is to change and improve the relationship by advocating better communication and collaboration between these two business units.
Why Do We Need DevOps in the Enterprise?
In the enterprise there is a need to break down silos, where business units operate as individual entities within the enterprise where management, processes and information are guarded. On the software development side — and for those working in IT operations — there needs to be better communication and collaboration to best serve the IT business needs of the organization.
DevOps Culture
One answer to breaking down enterprise silos is the move towards a DevOps-based culture that partners developers with operations staff to ensure the organization achieves optimal running of software with minimal problems. This culture is one that supports a willingness to wor
